Laser Operator
At Custom Metal Contracting, we are looking for bright and energetic team members to join our team, the hours of work are as follows: 12 hour rotating shifts 4 on 3 off followed by 3 on 4 off 06:00am to 18:00pm and 18:00pm to 06:00am with paid breaks.
What You’ll Do:
- Prepare, make proper set-ups for laser cutting operations.
- Analyze job orders, drawings, blueprints, specifications, and design data to calculate dimensions, tool selection, machine speeds, and feed rates.
- Determine the sequence of machine operations and select the proper cutting tools needed to machine workpieces into the desired shapes. Establish proper stop location, adjust laser beam focal point.
- Enter computer commands to store or retrieve parts patterns and programs.
- Ensure that every machine procedure is done in accordance with the strict guidelines of the company.
- Follow all company safety protocol.
- Inspect the work area and machines that were used during the day prior to leaving at the end of each shift.
- Attend and actively participate in training classes and safety sessions.
- Perform regular maintenance on laser machines as required.
- Check and inspect finished parts.
What Experience and Education You Need:
- Ability to safely operate laser machinery and work independently.
- High school diploma required.
- Must possess strong basic math skills.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to follow safety procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
- Computer literacy and familiarity with CNC.
- Experience in the manufacturing environment.
- 1+ year of manufacturing and laser operator experience.
- Proven history of working with gauges and calipers.
- Experience with AutoCAD and SolidWorks

- Will be required to tolerate working environment outside in all weather conditions.

- Must be able to lift pallets of up to 70 lbs. and lift or carry products a minimum distance of 10 ft. without mechanical assistance.
