At Custom Metal Contracting, we are looking for bright and energetic team members to join our team, the hours of work could be Day shift (06:00am to 14:30pm) or Afternoon Shift (14:00pm to 10:30pm). Shifts are fixed but may rotate in the future, a shift premium is payable in addition to a competitive hourly rate of pay.
Assembly Team Member Duties:
- Building products on the assembly line according to drawings, instructions, or schematics.
- Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Cleans and maintains work area and equipment, including tools.
- Must possess the ability to work as a team.
- Using tools and equipment with proper care.
- Conduct quality assurance checks to confirm that assembled products meet specifications and quality standards.
- Identify and source cutting tools and fixtures needed for jobs.
- Ensure that the equipment is operational by handling preventative maintenance, performing regular quality checks, and calling for repairs when necessary.
- Participating in continual training and development.
- Reporting incidents, faulty operations, or product imperfections on the assembly line to area Supervisor.
- Enter computer commands to store or retrieve parts patterns and programs.
- Attend and actively participate in training classes and safety sessions.
- Reading and following basic diagrams, drawings, specifications, bills of material, and instructions to accurately assemble components into finished products.
- Performing work in accordance with quality standards and safety procedures.
- Positions or aligns components and parts, either manually or with hoists.
- Uses hand tools or machines to assemble parts.
- Verifies specifications by measuring completed components.
- Documents actions by completing production and quality forms.
Assembly Team Required Skills:
- High school diploma or possess strong basic math skills required.
- 1+ years’ experience using production machinery, hands tools and hardware (preferred).
- Strong work ethic and ability to work at a fast pace.
- Knowledge of safety and manufacturing regulations and procedures (preferred).
- Proven history of working with gauges and calipers.
- Reading comprehension skills with the ability to interpret and follow written directions, blueprints, and engineering diagrams.
- Physical ability to stand for long periods and lift 30-50 pounds.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination.
- Ability to work independently.
- Excellent knowledge of manufacturing safety protocols and regulations.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Assisting other assemblers when required.
